There is quite a wide variety of these thin and lightweight high index lens materials which will bend the light around you quite well to reflect your vision needs. The light bending ability is determined by the index of refection of these lens materials. Their index is the ratio of the speed of light when it travels through the air to also when the speed of light may travel through your lens materials, this is quite important to reflect any discomfort that may be felt later on. The speed at which light will travel through your lens material is reduced so the lens will be able to better bend it to however much is needed for your vision.
